Prof. Dr. Adriano Laudico
The Philippine Cancer Society mourns the loss of Dr. Adriano Laudico (Professor Emeritus at University of the Philippines Manila College of Medicine), a great man and cancer surgeon, who has led PCS and DOH in their renowned PBCRs (population-based cancer registry), PCS-Manila Cancer Registry and DOH-Rizal Cancer Registry. These two PBCRs have been the source of Philippine cancer data for the WHO-IARC GLOBOCAN, since 1992.
Dr. Adriano Laudico, with Dr. Divina Estevan of Rizal Medical Center and Dr. Max Parkin of WHO-IARC upgraded the PCS Manila Cancer Registry and the DOH Rizal Cancer Registry, and continued on up to his death (November 10, 2024). The PCS-MCR collects, collates, summarizes, and analyzes data from four cities in the National Capital Region (Manila, Quezon City, Pasay City and Caloocan City); DOH Rizal Cancer Registry covers the other Municipalities-turned-Cities of Metro Manila.
