Pap Tests and Cervical Cancer Screening

A Pap test, or Pap smear, is a procedure that can detect cervical cancer, or spot precancerous cells that could later become cervical cancer. Most cases of cervical cancer can be prevented by regular Pap tests. Pap tests detect signs of cervical problems early, well before cervical cancer symptoms ever develop.
